How do DJs really feel about song requests during their events?

Event though The Todd Everett Experience is known for Photo-Booth, Lighting and Photography services, they are most sought after for their 6 Member DJ Collective. As DJ’s, they are often asked “How Do You Feel About Song Request”?

As a more seasoned DJ in the Wedding and Private Event and Corporate Event industries, Todd Everett and his team have a different take on suggested song requests made by guest during an event.

In this video, you will learn how some DJ’s really feel about song requests during their events. As professional and seasoned DJs within the Wedding, Corporate and Private Event industry in the Detroit metropolitan, Ohio, Indiana and surrounding areas, Todd Everett talks about how DJs might feel when they receive song request by both their client and guest at events. He also shares a tip at the end that might help DJs eliminate or cut down on the amount of song request that they may receive during and event.

Song requests are a part of every Wedding DJ or Mobile DJ’s job and can be approached with either a positive or negative mindset. I say Wedding or Mobile DJs because typically Club DJs are in a elevated booth or in a location where their audience doesn’t have complete access to them to request a song. Some Mobile DJ’s or Wedding DJ’s may find song request overwhelming or distracting. Rightfully so given the fact that one of the most overlooked elements of being a DJ is being required to focus on more than one thing at once. Sharing your attention with your dance-floor, computer and guest can be very difficult. DJ’s also have to be quick thinkers and reactors as well in the process of it all. Essentially, DJ’s would probably like to stay in the groove of the mix with no extra input if possible. We can also add in that everyone thinks just because you’re a DJ you should know and have access to every song ever made. No matter how old or new. This is so unfair to DJ’s because realistically, if you walked into a shoe store they wouldn’t have every style of shoe available. Let’s be real, Apple music doesn’t even have every song ever made by all your favorite artist available. Sometimes, we have unfair and unrealistic expectations for our DJs when it comes to that.

With experience, growth and the luxury of servicing different areas throughout the country, Todd Everett and The Todd Everett Experience Team have learned that song requests are opportunities to engage with their audience, gather feedback, and learn more about trendy, popular and hidden musical gems.

Having this mindset can help any DJ gain and maintain control of the atmosphere created at any event.

My wife and I are incredibly happy that we picked Todd to DJ at our wedding. Todd was very professional and thorough in his preparation for our event, and did a great job of making us feel comfortable. He made us feel like rock stars on our wedding day, and had no trouble getting every single person in attendance out on the dance floor for a long time. We're still hearing about how much fun everyone had. If you want your wedding reception to be a party with great music and an incredible atmosphere, look no further!
