Recently, The Todd Everett Experience had the honor of providing dj and entertainment services for a beautiful interracial wedding at the Shinola Hotel in downtown Detroit. This couple, who met during the pandemic on a dating app, made the bold move from San Francisco to Michigan, and their wedding was a testament to their love and resilience.
The ceremony took place on the rooftop patio of the Shinola Hotel, offering a stunning view set against the breathtaking backdrop of Detroit’s skyline. As the couple exchanged personalized vows under the open sky, their love story seemed to resonate with the vibrant energy of Detroit itself. The panoramic view of the city added a unique charm to the ceremony, making it a picturesque setting for the couple. Most of the guests, who traveled from various parts of the country, were friends rather than family, adding a unique dynamic to the celebration.
The reception was held in the hotel’s all-glass greenhouse-style room, creating an enchanting atmosphere that felt both modern and intimate.Each table featured an album from a Detroit- based artist, ranging from Aretha Franklin to J Dilla, perfectly blending the couple’s love for music with the city’s rich musical heritage. This creative touch not only honored Detroit’s legendary music scene but also served as a conversation starter for the guests.
The stunning floral arrangement by MDawn Floral added splashes of color and elegance to the setting, while the delectable catering of the Shinola Hotel ensured that everyone enjoyed a meal as memorable as the occasion itself. Todd Everett, the expert DJ and heart of The Todd Everett Experience mobile dj brand, curated a playlist that kept guest bobbing their heads during dinner and energized on the dance floor afterwards, ensuring everyone had an unforgettable night. His ability to read the crowd and mix genres seamlessly ensured that every guest, regardless of age, gender, race or musical taste, found themselves dancing and celebrating the night away.
One of the highlights of the evening was the Hora dance, bringing a joyful and unifying energy to the interracial couple’s wedding, celebrating their diverse backgrounds ( African American & Jewish) and the merging of their cultural traditions with exuberant, collective dancing. Friends cheered, laughed, and some even shed a few tears, moved by the love and unity on display. This wedding was not just a union of two hearts but a celebration of diversity, friendship, and the power of love. It was a beautiful example of how love transcends boundaries and brings people together from all walks of life.
